Summer vacation has begun in Japan!
For many families in Fukuoka—especially those with two working parents or single parents—figuring out meals every day can be stressful.
If you’re wondering how to manage daily meals this summer, did you know that there are Kodomo Shokudo (children’s cafeterias) and food banks available in Fukuoka City?
What Is a Kodomo Shokudo?
A Kodomo Shokudo is a community-based meal support program where children—and in some cases, adults—can receive free or low-cost meals. These cafeterias are often run by volunteers and local NPOs. They are open to all families, regardless of income, and can be a warm and welcoming place for kids to eat, study, and socialize.
