🏫 Using After-school Care (Gakudo) During Summer Vacation in Fukuoka City

If you are a working parent in Fukuoka City, and your work finishes after your child comes home from school, you can apply to use after-school care (called “Gakudo Club”) during the summer vacation.

You must apply in advance. This blog explains the step-by-step process to use Gakudo Club.

📌 What is Gakudo Club?

Gakudo Club is a city-supported after-school childcare service. It is available for elementary school children when parents are working.

✅ Step-by-step: How to Apply

✅ Step 1: Call the Gakudo Club

Call the Gakudo Club at your child’s school and say:
“I want to use Gakudo ”

📞 Best time to call:

Around 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, or
After 5:00 PM
(These times are less busy. Staff may not answer during crowded times.)

✅ Step 2: Go to the Gakudo Club and Get the Application Form

You will receive:

Application Form
“Proof of Employment” form (to be filled out by your workplace)

✅ Step 3: Fill in the Forms

Write your child’s name, your contact information, and other details.
Ask your workplace to complete the “Proof of Employment” form.

✅ Step 4: Submit the Forms

Bring all documents to the Gakudo Club.
📞 It’s a good idea to call before visiting—this makes the process smoother.

✅ Step 5: Set Up Bank Payment

You can do this on your smartphone.
📌 Note:
In Fukuoka City, the Gakudo fee and snack fee are paid separately.
👉 You must set up bank payments for both.

🗓️ When Should You Apply?

Try to finish steps 1 to 5 by around the 20th of the month before you want to start using the service.

📅 For example:
If you want to use Gakudo from August 1, try to finish the steps by around July 24.

💡 Some companies need about one week to prepare the “Proof of Employment” form.
So, we recommend contacting the Gakudo Club early in the month (for example, early July if you want to use Gakudo in August).
